Its been Nine years since we lost the Twin Towers as well as family and friends that day. September 11th has been a memorable event for a lot of people all over the world. Many have been effected by this tragedy. I can remember that day like it happened yesterday. I was in Junior High School at the time. None of the teacher wanted to let us know what was going on. They were all panicking and was told to direct all students into the "safe room". I could remember being in the safe room looking out of the one window that was there, and seeing a plane go by. It was very low, so close to the building you could hear its engine.
What was once whispers coming from the teacher, were loudly turned up. Gasps and screams. All of the students were worried. I had no clue what to think, but I could tell that it was something serious. Many question filled the air as the student reacted off of the way the teachers were acting. "Whats going on, why is everyone ranting?" Finally the Principle made an announcement. "Good Morning, Staff, Students and Faculty. Sorry to inform you that a plane has just hit the 2nd Twin Tower."
There were tears and screams every where. I can remember my teacher breaking down. I felt so bad for her. It was very over whelming for everyone; Some more than others. The Principle made another announcement for all students to call our parents so we can be picked up.
I became to feel very worried, too many emotions floating around. I waited and waited, she never came to get me. What was once a classroom full of kids was now just me. I was actually one of the last ones to get picked up. Where was she? Was she OK?
Finally after an hour she arrived. I could tell something was wrong with her. She didn't seem like herself. She had a blank stare on her face. She got to me and whispered "We had to leave right away." I quickly grabbed my things, so we can hurry and go.
As we were walking out of the building, she began to cry. I thought she was affected by what happened. She always had a sensitive heart. But something told me that something else had happened. She kept saying she was weak and her legs were hurting. She wanted to go to the hospital. I was really worried. I didn't like her like this.
I asked her if something happened. She stared at me and then told me. My heart was obliterated. I couldn't believe that this happened to her. She explained that when the second plane hit the tower she started to cramp up. She went to use the bathroom and realized that she was miscarrying. I felt really bad for her. I lacked words, I really didn't know what to say. I couldn't think of any uplifting words.
I've never seen her this way. She was in so much pain and still made it to come and get me. She's my hero. We lost a lot of Hero's, Family, Friends, Co-Workers that day. But that day I gained a Hero someone I knew who would never leave me hanging!
Nine years later and she now has her baby boy, What she always wished for. Although she still thinks about the tragedy that happened she has progressed in so many ways.
September 11th
They rose above Manhattan, against the skies of blue,
Twin Towers shining brightly, and holding thousands too.
Our great Financial Center; the symbol of World Trade,
Where countries came together, and many deals were made.
They stood so tall and mighty, and made us feel so proud,
Until one day some enemies, destroyed and brought them down.
American, United; our country’s planes they flew,
And fly they did right into them, until the towers blew!
Our whole world changed that moment, and life just seemed unreal,
The buildings bowed within the flames, which melted solid steel.
The acrid smoke just billowed black, and then an awful sight!
The towers started crashing down, and turned the day to night.
It rained debris and bodies, with Satan in the flames,
But when the dust had settled, we learned the many names.
For out of all the ashes, a blessing had occurred,
The spirits of those victims rose, because our prayers were heard.
Evil also died that day, although it still surrounds us,
Yet God is standing with us now, and working all around us.
He’s with the heroes working hard; He’s there with me and you;
The doctors, nurses, teachers , and the country’s leaders too.
He’s with the injured and the brave; He’s there throughout our land,
And all those saddened children, yes; He’s there to hold their hand.
For all you have to do is look, and you will see His face.
And when your heart is open, you’ll find God in every place.
Yes, even through these evil acts, He never left our side,
And when our hearts were broken, it was God who also cried.
American, United; they were not just planes you see,
“America United” is what God meant us to be.
So bless this land we stand on, and be proud and strong each day,
And respect the freedom that we have; GOD BLESS THE USA!
